I didn't study art. I just started buying it.

Growing up I was always into making things. Drawing mostly. Then school happened, then uni, and somewhere along the way that turned into an accounting degree and a career in numbers and excel. Art became something I'd see in a gallery on a weekend and think "that's great" - and then go home and forget about.

In 2023 something shifted. I bought a piece (nothing massive, a print) and put it on the wall. And I realised I'd been looking at it every single day. Still do.

That's when I got a bit obsessed. I started buying more, reading more, going to galleries properly instead of just wandering through. I still don't have a formal art education and honestly I think that's fine. I'm still working out why certain things grab me and others don't.

Black Dot Studio came out of wanting to share that. It's an online art shop with a mix of works I genuinely love. Some are accessible prints. Some are bigger investments. All of them are things I'd want on my own walls.

If you're new to buying art, welcome. It's not as complicated as it sometimes seems. If you've been doing it for years, hopefully we've got something you haven't seen before.

Either way, have a look around.
